Stony Brook University Crew is a high performance club rowing team that competes at an intercollegiate level throughout the northeastern section of the United States. We practice 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, with land practices taking place at 6 am at the Stony Brook University athletic training center multi activity courts (MAC). For water practices, we meet at 5:15 am at the Port Jefferson Yacht Club in Port Jefferson Harbor. We participate in several regattas every semester, and travel for additional training during spring break.
Our head coach is Christopher Seslar. Coach Seslar has a many years of combined experience both rowing himself as well as coaching here with us at Stony Brook.
Coach Brianne was born and raised on Long Island, New York where she first joined and was on her high school, St.Anthonys’ Crew team from 2004-2008. Originally a rower, Brianne soon became a coxswain where she continued growing her experience by competing on Stony Brook University’s Crew team in 2010, and has competed in over 50 races since 2004. As a volunteer assistant coach, Brianne coached for St.Anthony’s Crew in the Spring of 2011 where her Novice Women’s 8 won 1st place at the New York State Championship Regatta. She has since gone on to complete her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and is now working towards her Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Stony Brook University. Along with her role as an assistant coach, she is also looking forward to working one on one with the coxswains and helping them develop their skills. She can't wait to have a great season and to see Stony Brook Crew excel!
Our Executive Board handles all non-coaching administrative duties for the club. This includes equipment repairs and maintenance, all boat and other equipment purchases, budget management, internal and external fundraising, team communications, and more.
